The Messing’s In-Home Extended Family Session

The Messings & Family

Melinda, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you and your family over Thanksgiving!

I know it can feel awkward inviting a stranger into your home to take family photos, but you were all so warm and welcoming. Your dad invited me in like I was a guest, and your mom gave me the grand tour to find the best light. I felt like a friend in no time at all.

Thank you for sharing that my story about missed opportunities to get photos of my own kids inspired you to get in touch with me. I’m glad we were able to schedule a photography session for your family while you were in town for the holiday.

Makena and Tyler were awesome, joking with each other and having a good time. And they have great smiles. I hope Tyler’s cheeks weren’t tired for too long afterwards.

“Remember back in 2022 when that photographer caught on fire…?”

It took a second for the penny to drop but I don’t think I’m ever going to forget that one liner. Matthew has a sense of humor second to none. I’m guessing he keeps Scott in stitches with all his witty remarks.

I’m very grateful that the fireplace had been turned off earlier. And that the screen had cooled else the retelling would not be nearly as funny.

The photo we took of everyone on the sofa is one of my favorite photos from your family session. It was fun to recreate the photo you took of yourselves last year. Please tell Scott this one’s especially for him.

I’m keeping the photos of just you and Makena, taken out on the porch, a surprise. But I will tell you that they look amazing. It’s unbelievable how fast kids grow up so you may have been a bit shocked to realize that your baby girl is in her final year of high school.

My heart warms whenever I think of the joyful expressions captured in your family photos. They are going to be wonderful memories that you can look back on and relive for years to come.

Here are just a few of my favorite moments from your extended family session. Enjoy!

xo, Theresa
