The Ewaskowitz Family
I met the Ewaskowitz family several years ago. Their son, and my youngest, do Tae Kwon Do together. We have bonded during class while watching our sons learn their various Forms, Combinations, and Ho Sin Suls. They’d never had family portraits made with a professional before and were curious about the experience. We’ve chatted on an off about what it entails so I was honored when they requested a portrait session with me, this past fall.
The original plan was to shoot at a location with lots of trees and fall color. I recommended several locations that fit the bill. Unfortunately, an unusually early snowfall the previous week turned the last of the fall leaves to brown. But, all was not lost! There’s a good reason I recommend scheduling a portrait session during golden hour! It’s all about the light. The best light for portraits is while the sun is low in the sky; either just after sunrise or just before sunset. The effect of the sunrays filtering in through these otherwise unremarkable brown leaves was to turn them a glorious golden color. I love how the glow-y background makes these portraits pop, and sets this adorable family up at the stars of their show!
Accommodating the needs of an active, growing boy produced a gallery that truly represents this stage of their life. Tender moments, laugh out loud moments, and the high-energy moments of a growing boy doing the things he loves; climbing trees, jumping, and showing off his skills on a scooter. At one point he rode his scooter so fast he almost shot straight into the lake! Such is the life with boys, never a dull moment… I should know, I have four of them! Enjoy!
